Workout-proof your makeup….what’s in my gym bag

As I was running in the gym the other day I began letting myself people watch, in other words, watching everyone around me SWEAT PROFUSELY!

Usually I’m in a zone and rarely let myself notice women’s makeup (I won’t let myself judge anyone when I look at them, which is a bad habit most makeup artists have) but as I finished my workout and walked out I noticed one thing…..my makeup was still in place! I was sweaty! Not the cute dewy glow… I mean really, really sweaty, however, the makeup I had on hadn’t budged an inch!!!!

Directly out of my own personal gym bag here are some of my Crossfit-proof, Insanity-proof, sweat-proof, and water-proof budget friendly favorites:

Eye Shadow:

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Shadow – $6.99 at Ulta
This comes in soooooooo many colors! Not only in natural, pretty colors, but also in some jazzy, fun colors and it is quickly becoming an everyday product for me. The color I actually have on as I write this is ‘Bad to the Bronze’, it’s a very light natural tan, the darker bronze is ‘Rich Mahogany’….these both have shimmer but not all of them do. I applied this with my fingers, which I normally NEVER do but it was so easy to use.

Mascara:

All-time fave: Benefit They’re Real! Beyond Mascara Waterproof - $23.00 at Ulta
100% adore this! Love the brush and how plump it makes my lashes.

Thrifty fave: CoverGirl LashBlast 24HR Waterproof- $7.99 at Ulta or Target.
It smells a little odd but so far has been a close second to the first one I listed.

Cheeks:

Ulta Extreme Wear Cheek Stain – $8.00 at Ulta (it’s the Ulta brand).
The color I picked is Gleam, which is a light fresh peachy color in a stick. When I took the lid off I wiped the initial first layer off; it has a thin coating of odd shimmer but once removed, it’s perfect. There were several great colors to choose from so it will work well with many skin tones.

Lips:

MAC LustreGlass – $15.00 at the MAC Store, Dillard’s or Nordstrom
This is my absolute top lip favorite! It’s extremely sheer, looks good on ALL skin tones and plain and simple makes your lips look super juicy! Totally worth the money!!

More of my gym bag items:

Brooks Pure Connect Running Shoes – $89.99 at Academy.
These are the first running shoes that actually make me WANT to go run! Everyone’s feet are different so try on several brands, but these are the lightest shoes I’ve ever held and they have the absolute best support for my feet. I’ll probably never get anything else! High five to my friend Krisha for telling me about them!

Secret Clinical Strength Waterproof Antiperspirant – $11.99 at Target
It smells great and I never have to worry if it’s working or not. Looooove it!

Bath & Body Works Mini’s – 3 for $10.00 at Bath & Body Works
These are small bottles of body spray which are perfect to toss in your purse, backpack, or bag and go. I love Sweet Pea, Dreamy Vanilla Woods and Moonlight Path.

Pink Tie-dye Head Wrap -$3.80 at Forever21
The website doesn’t show the one I have anymore BUT they do have a super cute Leopard Print head wrap that I may have to run out and buy now.

I hope one or all of these help make your workout a little more glamorous! You should be so glad you were able to peek into my gym bag without being able to SMELL my gym bag!!

  1. Awesome article!!!!:)) I personally haven't wore make up for about 3 years now but have loved make up all my life! I may need a makeup session with you, since I believe I have lost my makeup skills by now! Thanks for sharing your favorites:) one of them I use and love it!:)
    Blessings:)

  2. Great ideas, we plan on trying some of these! (I have two teen girls.) I have one question, do you have a foundation that you like that is sweat proof? Liquid or powder?

  3. I do not sweat that much. After I leave the gym my makeup still looks good. After I put on my makeup, I spray hairspray and walk through it so it sticks on my face. It holds your makeup on. I love the idea of the waterproof makeup.

  4. Heather, these are great! Do you have any suggestions for foundation that can hold up during an intense workout?
