I’ve always loved Valentines Day, not for the lovey-dovey mushy-faced stuff but I love it because of all the pink and red makeup fun one can have!

It’s the one time I don’t need an excuse to doll up my face and clothes and boy, did I take advantage of this fun day every chance I could!

Here are some of my favorite examples:

DELICIOUS RED LIPS –

Red lips can be powerful, seductive, cute or fresh…. it’s all in the type of red you choose and how you apply it!

I adore Matte Reds because they stay on your lips longer but they tend to be suuuuuper dramatic. You can always try softer reds or orange reds for a fresher look or a pink red for a cutesie look.

I’m a giant fan of gloss so I always top my red with a shimmery gloss.

How to apply -

a. Start by applying lip primer all over the lip and just above and below your natural lip lines which will help prevent the red from bleeding and which will make it last longer on your lips.

b. Apply a nude liner along your lip line or whatever line you choose to follow.

c. Apply your red liner of choice over the nude liner. You don’t always need to matchy-match your liner to your lipstick, I usually go a shade darker and blend well.

Doing this helps the center of your lip pop when you add gloss.

d. Apply lipstick in short buffer like motions. This will help it go on super smooth!

You can apply it straight from the tube or with a brush. Users preference.

e. Apply gloss…. stick finger in mouth like your sucking on it, close mouth around it and pull out finger…this gets the lipstick off the inside of your lips and will keep it off your teeth.

Pro tip: when shopping for your perfect red don’t use your lips!!!!

Test the lipstick on your finger tips instead.

The same amount of blood that rushes thru your lips rushes thru your fingertips.

By doing this you can test the color without wiping it off your lips 50 times, if the color changes on your fingertips, it will change on your lips.

If your do try something on your lips make SURE it’s dipped in rubbing alcohol first! You never know where those testers have been.

GLIMMER:

NARS Walk on the Wild Side Silver Factory Illuminator

This is age-appropriate for all age ranges if used correctly. Instead of calling attention to certain parts of your face, focus on highlighting areas like your cheekbones, brows and inner corners of your eyes with this yummy illuminator.

Less really is more with this product even on a special occasion. If you’re going to wear it in pictures use even less! If shot in HD it will look like foil on your face.

Apply:

Use fingertips or…. (I’m breaking my rule by saying this) use a sponge lightly.

You can purchase this at Sephora for $39 (3 piece set which also includes a violet polish and a lip gloss).

LASHES: Benefit – They’re Real! Mascara. $23 at Sephora or Ulta.

Yet again this is my absolute #1 favorite mascara of all time!

I swear by it and couldn’t live on a deserted island without it!

This is a jet-black mascara that lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts, and separates lashes for a dazzling “out-to-here” , “fake lash” look.

The precision bristles on the custom-domed tip lift, define, and curl even your tiniest lashes and end in silky lashes that won’t smudge, clump, or dry out.

NAILS:

Sephora + Pantone Universe Opulent Lacquer Trio – $18

This trio is all limited edition polishes of metallic, sparkle and gilded-matte shade.

I love these because you can use them alone, all together or you can create your own romantic designs.

To me nail polish always completes an outfit or a total “look”! And NO … nails and toes do not have to match :)

Don’t be afraid to wear red, shimmer and sparkles this month … be daring and walk on the wild side a little.

I bet you feel a little more sassy, hold your head up a little higher and have a fun spring in your step if you try one or all of these fun items and tips.

Be confidant in who you are!!!!! Ever woman deserves to stand out and feel beautiful.

Go put on some red lips, now go look in a mirror, stand confidently, look yourself square in the eyes and say “I am sooooooooooo pretty!!!!!!!!”… Even if you don’t feel it!

Keep doing this for a week; you might be surprised in how you feel by the end of the week!

Happy Valentines Day! Squeeze someone you love!
