Rescue Her

Human trafficking. Sex trafficking. Slavery … I don’t know what emotion these words evoke in you. Maybe fear, sadness, anger, or a feeling of helplessness. For me all of those were true. When I first stumbled upon the issue of sex trafficking of young girls I pushed away and wanted nothing to do with it.

We were serving on the mission field in Israel and got to know a girl that had been sold by her own father, smuggled across the border and forced to work in a club/brothel. It scared me. I wasn’t sure what to do to help. I have daughters of my own, and it was hard to think about.

I grew up a pastor’s kid, always loved Jesus and wanting to serve Him with my whole life. My husband and I met doing ministry and set off to change the world for Jesus together. I had preaching the good news and feeding the hungry in mind. Not this. But God had other plans.

Suddenly it seemed everywhere I turned I was hearing about human trafficking. I didn’t like it. But one day I had a life-changing moment with God. I felt Him say: “My light is greater than even this darkness. And it is ok that you can’t help everybody, but you CAN rescue one … and then another, and another. Would you do what you can for ONE?” And out of that moment, Rescue Her was born. To sit and do nothing just was no longer an option. I believe that most people want to help, just like I did; they just need to know how.

At Rescue Her we work to raise awareness, raise funds, help rescue and restore. We work with SHE Rescue Home in Cambodia, a safe haven for underage girls that have been rescued from sex trafficking. The youngest girl they took in was only 3 years old. We work tirelessly to fund this important project. We are also working toward opening our own safe home, modeled after the SHE home, which is a huge undertaking but with God all things are possible!

We have a prevention partner in India, where high-risk street girls are taken off the streets and provided with a home, education, clothes, and God’s love. We also work to combat trafficking of girls in the DFW area. Our offices are in Bedford, TX and we would love for you to help us in the fight! We have outreach opportunities, we do prayer drives to local trafficking spots, we always need volunteers for special events, fundraisers, office work, our prayer network and more. We also take missions trips to the SHE home, which is am amazing opportunity to see first hand the work in Cambodia.

One of my favorite quotes is one by Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” You and I are more powerful that you can imagine. We are the only ones that make change possible. It has been said that the only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing. Let’s not have that be said of our generation! Let’s do SOMETHING, whatever that may look like for you. Join us!!

  1. There is no telling what God will do with one individually who is completely surrendered and gloriously ruined for anything but His will! Rock on, RescueHer!
