Pink Impact: A Special Gathering of Women

Pink Impact: A Special Gathering of Women

posted on March 14th, 2011 / by Debbie Morris / 110 Comments

My name is Debbie Morris.  You may know me as the wife of Pastor Robert Morris or maybe as the mom of Josh, James and Elaine.  You may have heard I have two amazing daughters-in-law, Hannah and Bridgette.  Or maybe you have heard about our awesome son-in-law, Ethan.  If you follow me, you might know that I am “Gigi” to the two cutest and smartest grandchildren, Grady and Willow.

What you might not know about me is that I am the Pastor of Pink, Gateway Women.  I have been an integral part of the women’s leadership team of Gateway since the church began.  I’ve done it because I believe God wants to use His girls to do amazing things.

I believe He wants to use me, and I believe He wants to use you.

Pink ImpactIn just a few weeks, we will once again host one of the most exciting events for women in our nation.  Since 2006, women have been gathering to participate in Gateway Church’s annual conference called Pink Impact.  Pink Impact was birthed out of a desire to see God’s beautiful girls celebrated and remind us that we can impact our world.

One of our core values is that we are for each other.  We are on the same team.  We each have different gifts and abilities, but we can all encourage one another.  We also esteem multi-generational ministry, creating a gathering that will appeal to our daughter’s and our mom’s.  We want older women to use their influence and their experiences to encourage younger women to be lovers of God and lovers of their families.  We want our younger women to know that they are needed, valued and that there is a place for them.

We choose the color Pink because it is the ultimate statement of femininity.  No matter where you are in the world, you can say or show the color pink and people instinctively know that it is related to women.  Secondly, we choose the word impact because women are to have a very special and unique impact in their world – they make a mark or an impression that is distinctive in their own sphere of influence.

Pink ImpactOver the years, the seeds of Pink Impact have grown and grown, but the vision has remained the same.  We strive to create a beautiful atmosphere that makes women feel special and safe.  Then we give them an opportunity to hear truth from some of the most dynamic and inspiring Christian leaders of our generation.  We put a high value on extended times of worship and we practice resting in God’s presence.  Most of all, we seek to hear His voice.  Then, on top of that, we plan some special surprises and create some fun gatherings designed to help us connect to one another.

We do all of this because we believe in women!

It is one of my greatest joys to hear the testimonies of God encounters.  I am always personally touched by God.  It seems each year that He says or does something very special in my own heart.  But I’m not alone.  Many of my sisters also testify of an intimate encounter of their own.  Collectively, we are being impacted – and we are impacting – one another.  It’s such a joy to me that I wanted to share a few testimonies with you from some of the Destiny In Bloom authors:

“As a former hater-of-large-gatherings-of-women, I just have to say that Pink Impact is a phenomenal experience.  I had some hard places in my heart when it came to women’s ministry and being able to accomplish anything when more than two women were involved.  However, in my journey to a soft, living heart, God used Pink Impact to massage the ickyness right out of me.  I experienced His presence during worship like never before.  I heard Him speak things directly to my heart and felt Him stoke the fire of my dormant dreams.  Today, I am serving mostly WOMEN in what I get to do – and I am so grateful that God changed my mind through Pink Impact!  Now, instead of standing on the outside of the circle, scoffing at all the “cliques” and girliness, I am on the frontline with my sword drawn to defend God’s precious daughters and blaze a trail before them into God’s throne room.  Women aren’t scary – they’re just hurting little girls who need the touch of a loving Father to make them whole.  Pink Impact is a great place to find that healing touch.  So, bring all your girlfriends, sisters and moms…but bring your own heart and prepare to be changed!”
- Crista Ashworth

Last year was my first time to attend Pink Impact.  I really wanted to go in years past but it just never worked out for me to attend.  I was very excited and had so much anticipation about what the Lord had for me.  I had no idea what He was going to do, but I knew He was going to do something big.  The speakers were, of course, amazing! In a room of hundreds of women I felt like God was speaking straight into my heart.  Christine Caine and Priscilla Shirer spoke of living a life of faith and risk and obeying when He speaks to us.  The Lord was stirring in my heart something big and by the end of the last session of Pink Impact He had spoken two words to me: “the lost daughters” and “the babies.” I went home from Pink Impact with a flame lit underneath me, and I was ready to charge full force ahead to unwrap what these prophetic words from the Lord meant.  After a series of events God showed me that we were to go on a trip to China to love on “the babies” living in a special care facility for orphans with special needs.  Through that trip He further revealed to me and my husband that His plan was for us to adopt our “lost daughter,” a little girl in China.  It is now a year later and we are weeks away from bringing home our little girl and seeing the full manifestation of the work He began in my heart last year at Pink Impact.  I must tell you, I can hardly wait for Pink Impact this year!  I know He has more in store for me and I can assure you He has something in store for you too!  Don’t miss Pink Impact 2011!  It will change your life!
- Kelli Jones

Pink Impact is a reminder that God has called us and empowered us to live in our destiny right now.  This is our moment to be who God intended us to be.  We don’t have to be bound by traditions.  We don’t have to be restricted by lies (even if they appear to be true).  And our past doesn’t have to determine our future.  We have this moment to live life to the fullest measure.  We have this opportunity to be impacted and to make an impact.

I would love it if you would consider joining me and a lot of other magnificent women as we celebrate each other.  You can register for this year’s conference at www.pinkimpact.com.  On April 6th- 9th we will gather.  I hope to see you there.  Let’s share this incredible experience together.
